Prerequisites
To connect to Michener VPN, the following prerequisite must be completed:
- Microsoft Authentication app must be installed on your mobile device
- Multi-Factor Authentication must be enabled and set on your Michener account
- Multi-Factor Authentication method must be set to “Microsoft Authenticator - notification"

NOTE: If you have an older client version installed, you can skip to Launching Cisco AnyConnect to auto-update the client.
Client Download
Step 1 – To access the Michener VPN, open any web browser (Firefox, Chrome or Opera, not Internet Explorer) and enter vpn.michener.ca in the address bar. A Cisco VPN page should load. Enter the same username and password you use to log into your computer or email.
Step 2 – You will receive a notification on the Microsoft Authentication App on your device. Click “Approve“ to authenticate your login.
Step 3 – After you have authenticated yourself, you should see the following prompt below. Click “Continue”.
Step 4 – You will be redirected to Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Download website where you will begin the installation process. Click “Download for Windows”. Save the installation file.
Client Install
Step 1 – Locate the installer and double click on the Cisco AnyConnect Installer to open. Click “Next”.
Step 2 - Check the “I accept the terms in the License Agreement” radio button and click “Next”.
Step 3 – Click “Install”. NOTE: You may be asked “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?” Click “Yes”.
Step 4 – The installer should then complete. Click “Finish” to close it.
Launching Cisco AnyConnect
Step 1 – Now click the Start menu or press the key and search for “cisco”. The Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client should appear. Click the application to open.
Step 2 – In the AnyConnect client, type “vpn.michener.ca” and click “Connect”.
Step 3 - It will prompt you for your username and password. This is the same username and password you use to log onto Michener computers & email account. Click “OK”.
Step 4 – A Message box will appear, click “Accept”.
NOTE 2: If your client is out of date, it will now auto-update.
Step 5 - You should now be successfully connected to Michener VPN. You can now access services internal to the Michener network.
Step 6 – To disconnect from the VPN, right-click the round blue & white icon in your system tray. Choose “Disconnect”. To reconnect in the future, right-click the same icon and choose “Connect”.
