Before you can use the Self-Service Password Reset option, you will need to add recovery info to your account. This will consist of up to two pieces of information, a phone number and/or email address, that you can be contacted by in the event you need to reset your password.
You cannot use a Michener email address for this process. You will need to provide an alternate email address. We recommend you use a personal email address that only you have access to, as well as a cellphone number.
To add recovery info, please follow the below instructions:
Step 0: Self-Service Password Reset will be enabled by Information Management. We will send that date & time in an email to all Michener staff, faculty & students. This process will not work until that date & time has passed.
Step 1: Log into your webmail at outlook.office.com. You will be asked to provide more information. Click "Next".
Step 2: You will then be asked to provide recovery info. While only one piece is required for password recovery, IM recommends that you provide both a recovery phone number and email address. This guide will walk you through setting up both. Click "Set it up now" next to "Authentication Phone is not configured" to begin.
Step 3: Enter a valid phone number and select the correct country code for the phone number. We recommend you use a cellphone number as it can receive both calls & texts. Now click "text me" or "call me".
Step 4: You will then receive a text or call depending on the option you chose with a six-digit number in it. Enter that number and click "verify".
Step 5: Now click "Set it up now" next to "Authentication Email is not configured" to begin the next step.
Step 6: Enter a valid email address. We recommend a personal email address that only you have access to. Then click "email me".
Step 7: You will receive a six-digit code in an email from Microsoft. Enter it, and click "verify".
Step 8: You will then be able to review the information you've added. Once you've confirmed the phone number and email address are correct, click "finish".
You have now successfully set up password recovery. Should you forget your password in the future, this information will be used to recover your password. For a step-by-step guide on how to reset your forgotten password, click here: Resetting Your Forgotten Password
